HEAVY TRACTOR

Scania R-Series

Scania R-Series (DC13 platform) is built to run a million kilometres — but injector cups, DPF regen logic and retarder oil all need disciplined attention.

SYMPTOMS

What you'll notice

Tell-tale signs the Scania R-Series is asking for attention.

  • Coolant loss with no visible external leak
  • Failed or aborted DPF regens, soot warning on cluster
  • Retarder performance drop or overheat warning
  • Hard start and rough running cold
DIAGNOSTICS

How we find the fault

  1. 1

    SDP3 multiplexer scan

Pull EMS, COO, RET and APS fault history with timestamps.

  2. 2

    Cylinder leak-down

Pressurise each cylinder to identify injector cup or head gasket leakage paths.

  3. 3

    Forced DPF regen

Run service regen and monitor delta-P, exhaust temps and soot load behaviour.

  4. 4

    Retarder oil & function test

Sample retarder oil, verify engagement pressure and cooling circuit flow.

TYPICAL REPAIRS

What we fix on the Scania R-Series

Injector cup / sleeve replacement

Pull injectors, machine seat, fit new cups and pressure-test cylinder head.

DPF clean & differential sensor

Off-vehicle DPF bake, replace delta-P sensor and pipework as needed.

Retarder oil flush & seal kit

Drain, flush and refill retarder; replace seals where contamination has crossed circuits.
